How do I calculate pro-rata holiday for part-time employees?
Take the full-time entitlement (e.g. 28 days) and multiply by the fraction of the week worked. Example: 3 days a week = 3/5 × 28 = 16.8 days.
Can I round the calculation?
You can round the figure up, but not down. For example, 16.8 days rounds up to 17 days.
How is holiday entitlement calculated for mid-year starters?
The calculator prorates the entitlement based on the start date and leave date you enter.
Can I enter an entitlement higher than the statutory 5.6 weeks?
Yes. By default, the calculator works on 28 days for a full-time employee (5.6 weeks), but it lets you increase the annual entitlement to include any enhanced leave you provide.
Does the calculator include bank holidays?
Yes. Public holidays (bank holidays) are treated as part of the total days’ entitlement in line with UK statutory guidance.
