We have some big updates planned for this year, but to get you started this update contains a few small but incredibly useful features:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Team Calendar Permissions<\/strong><br \/>\nA flexible way to open up visibility of teams to other managers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Replace Manager<\/strong><br \/>\nUse this button to shift a whole team to a new manager in one go.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Company Calendar<\/strong><br \/>\nEver wanted to block out days for everyone in the company? Now you can.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Request Cancellation<\/strong><br \/>\nEmployees can now request to cancel holidays after they\u2019ve been approved.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Managers Can\u2019t Delete Past Entries<\/strong><br \/>\nNow your managers are only able to delete future entries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><!--more-->Details on each of these features are included below, and you can explore the full range of <a href=\"\/features\">Holiday Tracker features<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<h3>Team Calendar Permissions<\/h3>\n<p>You can now grant permission for managers to view other managers\u2019 teams either in read-only mode, or with full access.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone wp-image-13 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogsource.theholidaytracker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/TeamCal.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/TeamCal.webp 695w, https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/TeamCal-300x90.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Team Permissions panel is located on the Employee Details page and lists all the permissions the employee currently has. This includes any access they might already have if they\u2019re a deputy for another manager. From here you can revoke permissions, and add permission for additional managers\u2019 teams.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone wp-image-14 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogsource.theholidaytracker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/TeamView.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/TeamView.webp 695w, https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/TeamView-300x71.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you add permission to see another manager\u2019s team, the employee will see a tab for that team on their <a href=\"\/staff-holiday-planner\">team holiday calendar<\/a> and can use the tabs to switch between teams.<\/p>\n<p>As with a lot of our features, we leave them turned off by default so we don\u2019t clutter your experience with features you don\u2019t need. If you\u2019re interested in the Team Permissions, drop us a line and we\u2019ll active it for you.<\/p>\n<h3>Replace Manager<\/h3>\n<p>If one of your managers leaves, or moves to a new role within the company, then changing the management structure was a laborious task. Not anymore. Now you simply go to the manager\u2019s profile and click the Replace Manager button.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone wp-image-10 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogsource.theholidaytracker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Replace1.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"230\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone wp-image-11 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogsource.theholidaytracker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Replace2.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"308\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Replace2.webp 308w, https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Replace2-300x224.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 308px) 100vw, 308px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll then be prompted to enter the name of the new manager and once you click Replace, the system will do all of the hard work for you.<\/p>\n<h3>Company Calendar<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve had this request from a lot of our customers. Some places close for Christmas and either enforce that their employees use some of their entitlement to cover those days, or want to mark those days as non-working days. Previously we\u2019ve taken care of that for them by running a script to add entries to everyone\u2019s calendar. Now you can do it yourself.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone wp-image-9 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogsource.theholidaytracker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Company.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Company.webp 695w, https:\/\/theholidaytracke-4xhy3odrd6.live-website.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Company-300x195.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Company Calendar is found in the Admin menu and works exactly like the normal Calendar. When you add an entry to the Company Calendar, it removes any entries from employee calendars that clash with it, and the event then appears on ALL employee\u2019s calendars.<\/p>\n<p>If you add the entry as a Holiday, it will also be subtracted from their entitlement like any other holiday.<\/p>\n<h3>Request Cancellation<\/h3>\n<p>If an employee needs to change a future holiday request once it\u2019s been approved, they can use the new Request Cancellation option.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone wp-image-12 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogsource.theholidaytracker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/RequestCancel.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"286\" height=\"118\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If they click on the holiday request, they can then chose Request Cancellation from the popup menu and then enter a reason why they want to cancel. This then sends an email to the employee\u2019s manager, prompting them to login and review the request.<\/p>\n<h3>Managers Can\u2019t Delete Past Entries<\/h3>\n<p>Managers have permissions that allow them to add and delete entries from the calendars of their team \u2013 this is an important feature of The Holiday Tracker. However, one of our customers asked if we could amend this so that managers can only delete future entries, not past entries. This made so much sense to us, that we decided to develop it AND make it the standard for all customers.
